Mighty Vegan Waffles from Fämily Foods®

Crispy, versatile, savory and sweet, there is nothing the amazing waffle cannot hold.

Waffles are the ultimate breakfast food, but they can also be served as a savory dish as well!

We love them with bananas, vegan whipped cream, chocolate chips, and a bit of Rachel’s Blueberry Jam, but also don’t mind throwing in a bit of chopped veg of choice in the batter for a savory snack too.

Waffles are thought to be invented by the ancient Greeks, they were first made with plates of metal attached to long wooden handles and cooked over a fire.

As the waffle progressed, the handles got shorter, the addition of squares were added to the metal plates to create the traditional waffle grid on top (perfect for holding multiple delicious toppings!), and the invention of electricity assisted in the creation of the modern waffle iron!

Waffles are great for those busy mornings too, when you have to get the whole family up and out the door! They're portable, even with toppings, and will keep you full for a long time.

Simply heat up the waffle iron, whip up the recipe below, add your favorite toppings and boom, welcome to yumtown.

The Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup Fämily Foods® Pancake & Baking Mix (click here to purchase)
  • 2/3 cup water
  • Dash of coconut oil (any oil is fine, we love coconut)

The Process:

  1. Mix 2/3 cup mix with 2/3 cup of water until batter is smooth.

  2. Heat your waffle iron and lightly coat with oil.

  3. Slowly pour a third of your mix into waffle iron and close the lid. Let sit until the light goes off or your waffle is cooked to desired doneness.

  4. Serve with your favorite toppings.
