The World Needs an Intention Avalanche. Let’s Start One.

Urgent conversations are now on the table. But the voices of the victims are still fighting to be heard. To be believed. To be protected.

The horrible facts of how people have been treated and the trauma they’ve suffered are scratching at many of our own similar wounds.

Even though empowering movements are growing from these conversations, it hurts to see other souls recount a night you may wish never happened to you or your sister or daughter or brother or friend, too.

Have you noticed a trend in the people coming forward with their personal horror stories? They’re not always who you would pin to be traumatized if you saw them walking down the street. You’d see them and think they look strong as fuck.

But did you know the people who are the strongest are usually the most sensitive?

Did you know the people who exhibit the most kindness are the first to get mistreated?

Did you know the one who takes care of others is usually the one who needs to be taken care of the most?

Did you know the 4 hardest things to say are "I love you", "thank you", "I’m sorry", and "help me"?

Maybe another one should be added to that list: "I believe you."

Everyone feels the same things, just not all at the same time. But these days, it feels like women across the universe are united in a mixture of anguish, shame, rage and fear.

For those who resonate, and for those who are desperate to do something about it, let’s start an intention avalanche.

There’s a meditation called Meditation on Twin Hearts: You act as a channel to send loving-kindness and peace to the whole world. You do it by transforming darkness into light, harmony and love within your own heart. Then you send all that light, harmony and love to all the hearts in the world. It’s magical. And dammit, it is needed!

Here’s my version. Join me.

Place your hands on your heart. Make your breath deeper and slower. Feel your heart beating in your hands. Remind yourself that you are safe in your body, right where you are. Visualize a warm glow in the center of your heart. As you breathe, the glow starts to expand. Your whole heart is held in this healing light. Let your body soften. Breathe here as long as you need.

Then hold your hands out, palms facing away from you, out toward the world. Feel the glow from your heart extend through your entire body and into your hands.

As you radiate this light, your hands begin sending it out to those who have suffered, to those who are suffering, to those in a position to do something about it and make our world a safer place.

Everyone needs loving-kindness to help them function as their highest self. Send love to all.

Keep watching your breath and visualizing your heart’s glow sweep the world and wrap up the whole universe in a warm, fuzzy blanket of peace. Stay here as long as you need.

When you’re done meditating, set your intention for the day. Maybe it’s something like:

Today I will give love to every person that crosses my path. Today I am compassionate. Today is a beautiful day.

To those who have bravely shared their stories, we bow. The darkness hurts so much more when we keep it in the shadows. Thank you for bringing yours into the light. May we follow in your crusading footsteps.

Your final task today is to snuggle up with a loved one who makes you feel safe and cherished (pets and favorite blankets count!).

If you joined me in the meditation, tell me about it in the comments below!

X,

Rachel
