Hey, I’m Evris Anthony Fearon (@evris_fearon) and I am 24 years old. I’m originally from Jamaica, but I’ve spent half of my life on the island of Aruba.
My mom moved here in 2001 to create a better life for my sister and me. I love Aruba, but I still go back to Jamaica every three years. I hope to one day travel and see more of the world.
I’m a full-time chef, so most of my day is spent in the kitchen! I manage the team at work and I think this is one of my great super powers. I’m a natural leader, and I bring out the best in every person I meet.
This hasn’t come easy, though. I spent many years feeling stuck in a negative pattern that I adopted from my childhood. Over the years, I discovered that I simply don’t need to be in this spiral of negativity. It was due to my old surroundings and I am not in that place anymore.
Now, I try to be an influence of light in this world and I show up every day as the real Evris. Through my own self-work and study of the mind, I try to be the best leader I can be within my work team, my family, friends, and to whoever crosses the same path as me.
I hope to bring love and positivity into every interaction I have in the world.
When I am not working, I draw abstract art. Expressing my creativity through drawing is a great joy in my life. I just draw what I feel. I picked up this practice from my grandma.
Of course, I also practice yoga. I had never thought about doing yoga before, but then my girlfriend introduced me to it. After my first practice, I was hooked. When I am feeling stuck in my body, this practice has always been there for me. It allows me to grow and to challenge myself.
Sometimes it can be hard, and there are days when I want to escape the practice and just quit. So, it creates the extra challenge to stay – to be willing to feel what is going on physically and emotionally and to sit with it. That is where the real progress begins.
Sometimes my practice takes me to the studio, but I have a very strong home practice as well. When I am on the mat, I just move in a way that makes me feel a sense of wholeness. I don’t always know what pose I’m doing or the name of it or if I’m doing it right – but it feels really good to me.
It feels amazing to be a part of this yoga community. I am on a path of growth. I feel like I am on the big ladder of life, and we are all climbing it together. I know this is the way to make a change in the world – we will break the negative patterns and become a glowing, positive light in the world.
The moment you really let the Yoga Girl community be there for you, you will feel it. If you are hesitant, lean towards to side of growth! It’s hard for a reason. But if you stick with it, you will start to feel yourself becoming stronger physically and mentally. And when that happens, you will discover your calling in life. Trust me, it’s worth it.
