Wake Up and Go

Does your pregnancy have you feeling low-energy and craving a good pick-me-up? This class will help with just that! Perfect for any trimester (or even if you're not pregnant), but especially in the beginning stages of pregnancy, this class will replace your tired, sluggish energy with revitalized vigor!

This short 20-minute flow will start on the back, grounding and observing the energy of the current moment. Before diving into the flow, you'll start with gentle hamstring stretches to awaken the body. Acknowledge any places of tension or tightness so you can mindfully breathe deeper, create more space, and bring about more physical awareness in the body throughout your practice. You will move through modified Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar), a hip opening lunge series, and then progress into a balancing sequence. Round out the practice with a supported, gentle Camel Pose (Ustrasana) to open the heart. To finish, keep the energy elevated and close with a seated Savasana to honor the body, integrate, and receive all of the new energy you created.

For this class, you will need two blocks (or homemade substitutes). Additionally, a strap and a blanket are optional for extra length and support. If lying on the back is uncomfortable or leads to dizziness, please skip or modify by elevated the upper half of the body with blankets or a bolster supported by blocks. You can also modify by practicing while seated in a chair if that's more comfortable. Of course, always consult your doctor before beginning any exercise while pregnant.
