Move Softly

Join Rachel for her very first LIVE yoga class for Day 26 of the 30 Days of Space Yoga Girl® Community Challenge! This gentle, all-levels practice will give you the space to become present, feel into the heart, and return home to yourself.

Begin lying down to fully ground into the present moment and your body, and begin to mindfully follow the breath. Stay present with yourself as you start to find gentle movement by lengthening and creating space in the hamstrings, hips, and spine. Open up the heart space with soft cycles of Cat/Cow (Marjaryasana/Bitilasana) and find a moment of surrender and side-body opening with a healing Child's Pose (Balasana). Create a bit of heat with slow and gentle Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar), taking whatever variations feel best for you in this moment. Enjoy feel-good and playful sequences to open up the hips and legs and to activate the core and side-body. Slow it down with Half Pigeon Pose (Ardha Kapotasana), a Seated Forward Fold (Paschimottanasana), Happy Baby Pose (Ananda Balasana), supine twists, Reclined Bound Angle (Supta Baddha Konasana), and most importantly Savasana.

For this class, a blanket, a strap, and two blocks (or homemade substitutes) are optional for extra length and support.

Find the Spotify playlist for this class here, which you can start from the beginning at 18:33 (turn off shuffle).

Deck is The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit deck by Kim Krans, available here.

The physical asana portion of this class begins at 18:11. Please see note below related to sound/visuals:

This video was originally recorded on April 13, 2020 via Instagram and Facebook, so we were not able to guarantee video and sound quality. Sound becomes louder and more clear at 16:47, and visual has moments of freezing between 15:59-16:47, but these are brief and do not affect the yoga portion of the class. Also, while during the challenge, classes were free for a limited time, but they now require a premium membership to view in full.
