[00:04] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily, happy Tuesday, and welcome to our Tune-In Tuesday episode of this week. It's time for us to contemplate a specific topic today, and then hopefully you'll be able to give yourself sometime today to really journal on this. I love having a journaling practice, it really is a simple way to accelerate our personal development, our spiritual journey, a great way to vent, to release things and to move a little bit deeper within ourselves so that we can get to know ourselves better. So, I'm hoping you can use these Tuesday episodes as a little journaling prompt to take with you into your practice later today. Today, I want to talk about balance and this is something that I was contemplating a lot during the lunar eclipse that we had this weekend, particularly the balance between our home and our work life, which also means the balance between our home, in terms of our bodies, our self-care, our health and our work life being how we relate to the rest of the world.
[01:09] I have spoken a lot about this, my lack of balance in these areas on the podcast over the years, but taking a moment right now to really contemplate this, the energy between the giving and the receiving and the balance that we either have, or that we lack between our home and work. How is this playing out for you right now? Chances are that whatever you were struggling with, or however this dynamic was before Corona virus, before isolation, before the whole world stopped. Chances are things have shifted a little bit for you. So let's contemplate this question today. How is my balance between home and work, or how is my balance between self-care and taking care of other things or other people? What has that relationship or that balance looked like all throughout your life and how has that balance potentially shifted this year? 2020 really is the year that just keeps on giving.
[02:08] We keep getting new things to deal with, new things to contemplate, new big experiences and scenarios that really are turning our whole worlds inside out. And perhaps you find yourself with some sort of a pattern in terms of your output and your input. I can see that for myself in my own personal life, that having come to this place right now, where I definitely feel like I have more energy finally, after 31 years of struggling with this, I have more energy at home, more energy within myself, more energy and more action taken in my life around self-care. And whenever I find myself getting really pulled toward work, toward intensity of things, toward maybe some stress or pressure, or whenever I get back to this idea of, Oh, I have to create more. I have to work hard, or I have to succeed more. Whenever I end up in that place, I tend to lose sight of just how much I have appreciated having more of that balance between these two areas of my life.
[03:09] And then I'll get kind of lost when I go down these tracks of all of a sudden having a lot of things on my plate when actually I don't need to be that busy right now. So I can sense that there is this imbalance within myself, and it's not just because of how my work life, my home life is like right now. It has something to do with the inner workings of my own being. It has a lot to do with how I grew up. It has a lot to do with what my parents modeled for me. It has a lot to do with the kind of validation that I've gotten my whole life from working really hard and working all the time and the lack of validation I received in my life when it comes through resting and slowing down. So, I really think for all of us, this is a big topic, and I would love for you to give yourself some time and space today to contemplate your balance between home and work, or your lack thereof, and also how you came to be here.
[04:01] What has this dynamic been like in your life? What was it like when you were little? What was that like for your parents? Because of course we grow up, seeing our parents interact with the world in a certain way, and we grow up believing that that's the way we have to be, too. I think this is a beautiful opportunity to realize and recognize where we might be lacking, where we might be struggling, where we feel challenged and perhaps also get to the root of some changes we can actually make in our day to day to invite and bring about more of this balance that we all so deeply long for. I hope you have a good moment today journaling, give yourself plenty of time. And if you want to share on this topic as well, find a family member or a friend, so you can really open up and talk this through. Thank you so much for tuning in with me today. Yoga Girl Daily will be back tomorrow.
