[00:04] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily, happy Friday, and welcome to our Feel-Good Friday episode of the week. I am sitting here right now, feeling like a new person. I just cut what feels like all of my hair off. So today for this practice, of course, I want to invite you to have a self-care practice that centers around letting something go. For me, letting go of my long, long hair that was so long that I was sitting down on it, it really literally feels like letting go of dead weight. And we have a full moon in Capricorn coming up this weekend with a lunar eclipse as well. So lots of big energies around, and as we know the full moon symbolizes the completion of something or something being illuminated. It's a beautiful opportunity to put something down that isn't serving us anymore. To cut something off, to let something go.
[01:05] So today to really bring you into that good vibration for the weekend, I want to invite you to have a little ritual around letting go. So taking a moment today to really contemplate what area of your life feels heavy or what area of your life feels like it's stagnant, or where in your life do you feel like you're stuck? And what is it that you're actually longing to release from your life right now, or perhaps what would make your life feel a little more fresh? What can invite that energy of rebirth, which I really think we all need right now. I would love to invite you to join me for a full moon ceremony. [01:55] But if not, you know, taking this weekend to really journal on and contemplate what you would like to release from your life. If you want to practice some stream of consciousness journaling, you can write just something as simple as, “Right now, I want to let go of…” and see where that takes you, or, “In my life right now, something that's weighing heavy that I want to release is…” and then see what comes your way from that. And once you've been able to identify what it is that you are looking to let go of, and perhaps for you, you know, just like for me, for me it was my hair, which represents a lot of years of my life, that don't represent who I am anymore. It's putting down a part of me that I feel I have outgrown, right? Cutting that piece of my life out and off.
[02:40] And for you, perhaps there is a physical representation of that letting go that can happen in your life today, whether it's something like cutting your hair or purging something from your house or cleaning out an area of your home or your closet, maybe setting a boundary or letting go of a person in your life, a behavior that you don't want anymore, maybe even around how you're treating yourself. Once you have journaled on this, having a little fire ceremony to let go, and we're going to do this on the full moon ceremony on Monday. Every full moon I have a little fire ceremony at the house where I burn something that I feel ready to release. So if you can do it, it's super, super easy. You can do it at home, just make sure you do it in a safe way. So, whenever I burn, I like to go to the bathtub. It feels to me like the safest place to be. The bathroom, in the shower and the sink, somewhere where you have direct access to water, should you need it, but writing it down on a piece of paper, you know, and trying to make it as concise and simple and direct as possible.
[03:41] And then folding that together, I'll have a moment to take a breath, maybe say a mantra or repeat something to myself, like an affirmation or something that, that speaks to who I want to be, not who I have been. And then taking a candle or matches or whatever you have around and literally burning that piece of paper, just to really watch the energy of that go up into smoke. Just to remind myself of the fact that I have this ability to transform and transmute, whatever isn't serving me anymore. I have the ability to let things go, but sometimes we have to actually bring some attention there, contemplate it, journal on it, meditate on it. And then a little ceremony just like that will put it into action so we can begin ridding ourselves from this heavy thing that probably we don't need anymore. So, to get you into that feel-good vibe, have a practice of letting go today, put that into action. And I hope that brings you some lightness this weekend. You deserve to feel free, to feel light. And remember every day brings the opportunity for a new beginning. Happy letting go. Happy full moon.
