[00:38] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily and welcome to our gratitude practice of this week. So, it's Thankful Thursday today, which means it's time for us to really feel into the power of the thank you, right? Thank you are some of the most powerful words in the English language. It's a big thing to anchor into gratitude. It can change your day; it can change someone else's day. It puts us right in that vibration of actually being able to create big things, right? Acknowledging what's here, now. And it's also an important practice to have when we have a lot of movement in the world, that we can come back to a place of feeling grateful for the good things that are happening right now, for the good changes that are coming our way, for the good actions and the good work of people all around.
[01:36] So today in the spirit of the Black Lives Matter movement, I want to take a moment for all of us to acknowledge and thank every single person that has dedicated time and energy and emotion and action into making a change over the past couple of weeks, right? And we all know that change happens in many different ways. It's going to look different for each of us and also remembering that impact is more powerful than intention, right? So it's not enough to just want to make a change or to intend to make a change, it also matters how it lands in the world, right? How it resonates and speak for the people who are at the center and at the focus of this of this cause. So for every single person out there this week that has been in the street marching, that has been protesting.
[02:30] That's been making signs for everyone. That's had uncomfortable conversations with family members. For everyone that's confronted someone in their life, right? For everyone that's donated money to organizations that make a difference in this world. For every person who sat down and really taken the time to write something purposeful. And for everyone who's done the inner work or begun doing the inner work over these past couple of weeks, to actually down and reflect on, you know, how do these things play out inside of myself? What is this structure that I'm living in right now? How does white supremacy actually show up all around me all day long? And what are some moments in my own life where I have actually been privileged in ways that other people haven't, right, or how, in some ways this, the system favor me and not other people, right?
[03:27] There's so many levels and layers to this work. And for some people, you know, we're doing all of this at the same time, right? Maybe you're out in the street, you're protesting, you're making signs, you're donating, you're having the conversations. You're out there doing the work in so many different ways. And for some of us, you know, people in other circumstances, maybe you're doing one of these things right now. And maybe that's the beginning for you. And I want to just have a moment right now to extend some, some gratitude to everyone doing this work. It is a challenging place to be, right? It's not going to be easy to be out there. It's not going to be easy to confront some of these people in your life. It's not going to be easy to confront yourself, right? And an important reminder right now, as you, you know, give yourself this moment of gratitude, or give other people this moment of gratitude, is that we're not doing this work because we expect a thank you, right?
[04:23] We’re not doing this work because we want a cookie at the end of it, or we want a reward at the end of it, or for other people to look at us and say, okay, you're doing a good job, right? We're doing this work because it's the only right thing to do, right? Because not doing this work is inhumane. And saying that Black Lives Matter, that's the bare minimum, right? That's the bare minimum. So it is possible to sit down and acknowledge the fact that yes, it's important that I'm doing this work, give yourself that moment of acknowledgement, validate it and other people in your life, right? Knowing that this can be really challenging. It is really challenging for most people because it's challenging the status quo that's been in place for centuries. So acknowledge that, validate that, and then use that as fuel to go another step further.
[05:14] To level up, to make sure that the work you've been doing over the past weeks, it's not just a trend, right? As much as the bandwagon you jumped on for a second and then you went back to what things were before, right? But that this is the beginning of real everlasting change. So in this moment, right now to take a moment to close the eyes, and as you're sending out this gratitude in the world, right, taking a moment to really at the center of your heart, hold the Black community there. The biggest thank you of all goes out to them, right? To every single person whose lives have been affected and are affected by this racist structure that we live in, by racism every single day. And if you, as a white person right now is a little tired, just engaging with this - imagine living a lifetime of actually being exposed to this every day, right. Of having this be directed your way, right? As white people were on the sidelines of this. So take a moment to validate the work that's happening to validate this movement. A moment of gratitude for everyone who is doing this good work, and then keep going, keep going, keep going.
[06:32] Thank you so much for listening. Yoga Girl Daily will be back with some self-care for us all tomorrow.
