For Thankful Thursday this week, our gratitude practice is directed toward the planet that we live on.

So often we lose our sense of connection to the earth even though everything we are and everything we have is because of it! The air we breathe, the water we drink; we cannot separate ourselves from Mother Earth.

Today, take some form of action to help the planet. Take your shoes off and feel the connection to the ground below you.

Appreciate the abundance it offers us all.

[00:44] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily and happy Thursday, you guys! It's Thankful Thursday today, which of course means it's time for our gratitude practice. Today, I have something very specific in mind that I think is very urgent and important for us to tune into in some shape or form every single day, and that is our gratitude for this earth. The gratitude we have or that we should have or should experience and feel every day for this planet with all the amazing climate marches that have been happening over the past week and so much action being finally taken in this world to help support the environment, we need to take time to connect to that place inside of our own hearts where we are reminded of why this is important. I think a really big reason as to why we are in such a dire place right now is that so many of us in so many places around the world, we have lost that sense of gratitude for this earth are we feel very, at least disconnected from nature and mother nature.

[01:48] Maybe you live in a city, perhaps you have very little time spent in your regular week where you get to connect with nature in that very pure way, right? Perhaps there isn't an ocean or a river or a lake for you to be, then maybe there isn't a forest for you to walk through or a mountain for you to climb. Perhaps you don't have the ability to take your shoes off and feel the feeling of the warm earth beneath your feet. And then we feel disconnected from mother earth, when we don't feel grateful for all the abundance that this planet gives us, of course it's hard for us as they connect it to the fact that we actually weigh really heavy on this planet in so many ways. So when we feel that sense of gratitude toward nature, it's easy to take those little day to day actions that we actually all have to take to be in support of this planet instead of weighing heavy on it.

[02:36] It's easy to get out there and march and fight for what's right when we feel connected to the earth, it's easy to recycle and we feel connected. It's easy to choose organic over non organic. It's easier to shop local. It's easier to eat in a way that's healthier for the planet. All of these things that we can do and there are so many of them. Of course, flying less, taking your bicycle instead of driving your car. Thousands of things we can do, but if we don't remember the fact that we are intricately connected to this earth and that as a truth, we don't have anything without this planet. We are nothing without mother nature. If we forget all of these things then yeah, fighting for change and being conscious of reminded of what's important everyday becomes really, really hard.

[03:25] So take a moment right now just to close your eyes and connect to what nature actually means to you. And perhaps you need to transport yourself to that place in nature where you feel really at home. Maybe you have that favorite little walk that you take outside or a favorite tree you pause to connect as a from time to time. Maybe there is that favorite lake or a river or a destination that you traveled to or perhaps that day to day connection that you have with nature walking your dog outside. But a place in nature or a moment in nature where you feel deeply connected. Take yourself back to that place. Envision yourself placing your hands on the earth or envision yourself taking your shoes off and placing your bare feet on the ground. Without mother earth, we wouldn't be here. Without mother earth you wouldn't have this air to breathe, you wouldn't have water to drink. There wouldn't be a place for us to love and feel and connect and reach out into the space. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for this planet. And truth of the matter is that you have an immense power to support this earth and to get to that place, we have to first remind ourselves of the utmost gratitude that already lies there in our hearts for this earth.

[04:47] Feeling both how small we are in the grand scheme of things and how big of an impact we have in our day to day lives. We cannot separate ourselves from this earth. We cannot separate ourselves from Mother Nature. So it's impossible for us to feel grateful for anything in this world without automatically having that gratitude extend to the earth as well, because you wouldn't have those things to be grateful for if it wasn't for her. So taking a moment to tap into every gratitude practice you've ever had and recognizing how they all connect back to this planet. How every big moment of your life is thanks to you being able to walk this earth. We owe it to her to take as good of a care of her as we possibly can. So in your heart of hearts right now, connecting to that sense of thankfulness, perhaps repeating out loud to yourself right now. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Let's take a full deep breath in and out. When you open your eyes, I want you to take today to take some form of action to help this planet. If it's making a change in your day to day or perhaps getting out there and marching or signing a petition or donating money or doing something, reminding people around you how important this cause is, and doing that with gratitude in your heart.
