[00:04] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily and happy Friday! It's Feel-Good Friday today and I don't know about you, but this for me was my first proper week back working. Maybe you've been at it a little bit longer than I have, but I feel like we're really getting into the groove of this brand new decade. So Feel-Good Fridays are always about something that makes us feel good, a kind of self-care practice or something to hold us over the weekend until we're back on Monday again. And I have been feeling so inspired by all the intention setting around this new year. I don't know about you but I really feel inside of myself like man, it's a new decade. It's a big thing. And I've recorded so many podcasts and written posts on social media and really talked a lot about planting seeds for this year and how we can really grow into what we want to create this year.
[00:54] And I feel so inspired just by these themes that I thought of a practice that is a little unconventional because I'm going to ask you to practically do something today. But I also think it's wonderful and it's a really great way to embody everything that this new decade represents for you. So today, I want you to plant something and watch it grow. How wonderful is that? I want you to plant something and watch it grow. Now you don't have to have green thumbs for this at all. I love how people have such different ideas on, you know, gardening and stuff like that. So perhaps you're one of those people, you have plants all around your house, you love taking care of plants and greens and little trees. Maybe you have a vegetable garden, like this is totally your thing. Perhaps you're one of those people who can barely keep a cactus alive.
[01:40] Maybe you're somewhere in between but surrounding ourselves with greenery and things that are alive that breathe. Greens, plants, flowers, it can make a huge difference in our lives. It absolutely does, especially if you live in a big city, you don't have a lot of nature around, you bring some of that nature into your house. And planting something from scratch, that might actually mean that you go out there today and you buy some frickin seeds. Perhaps those seeds have to be germinated. Maybe you can just pop them in a little plant with dirt. I want you to plant something. Or you can buy a tiny plant and watch that grow, that's okay too. But taking a moment with your seedlings, taking a moment with your seed so that you can speak your intention to it, imagining like you're planting your intention in this sacred little pot that you're going to put somewhere around your house, maybe in your yoga area, maybe right by your bedside table, something and it will really represent to you all the seeds that you're metaphorically planting by putting your intentions into action this year.
[02:43] And of course if you succeed in growing something that's amazing. How awesome is that to actually plant something and watch it grow? Hopefully it's something that you can sustain and take care of all through the year. It reminds me when I was little, my mom would always sprout avocado seeds whenever we had guacamole or whenever we ate avocado at the house. And even though we lived in Sweden, which obviously isn't a place to grow avocados, she would plant these little avocado trees and we had one that grew humongous. I mean over, I think my whole childhood, it started off as a tiny little plant and it became this giant tree. And everywhere we moved we would bring this avocado plant with us. And I just remember it as this big living constant in my life. And you know that saying, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago.
[03:32] The second-best time to plant a tree is today. So let's bring a little more life, a little more greenery into our lives. Plant something today and watch it grow. And then I love the idea of speaking our intention to this plant every day. Maybe this is weird. Maybe it will sound silly to you. I don't know. This is kind of things that I do around my own house. I talk to my plants all the time. It's powerful to speak our intention for the year out loud, man. It's a really cool and very sacred practice. So how about planting this seed? Watch it grow into something. Whatever you choose, whatever you're drawn to, and then have it be your 2020 plant, like this is your plant friend that you're going to nourish and take care of all year long. I love this practice. I'm so excited about it. I can't wait to go plant a little seed. I don't know what I'm going to plant yet. We have a lot of seeds at the house, but head over to your closest garden center anywhere you can find seeds and plant something today. It's easy. I hope you love this Feel-Good Friday practice. I sure do. Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Yoga Girl Daily will be back on Monday.
