[00:04] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily, happy Friday, and welcome to our Feel-Good Friday episode of this week. We have made it through the work week. This week, I feel has been a tough one in a lot of ways, lots of things going on in the world, lots of things going on inside of ourselves. So, today I want to have a moment for each of us to actually do something very, very nourishing. And I'm going to get super specific with our self-care practice for the day. We are going to cook up a feast. So, if you are an avid cook, you like to be in the kitchen, you like to play chef, you like to cook for yourself or for your loved ones or your family - you're going to love this as a little self-care tip for today. If you are not a person who likes to cook, take this as a little bit of a challenge, okay?
[00:52] If you normally get takeout or you eat out, or however, how do you eat if you don't cook by the way, or if you use the kind of simpler things in the kitchen, right? Take today as a little bit of a challenge, right? I really believe there is a chef hiding in all of us and deep down, we like to engage with the food that we eat. Deep down we can get really creative with the food that we eat in terms of how we cook. We can also, if we feel like we don't have inspiration, find amazing recipes and just follow them step by step online. So, so many ways to go about this. But today I want you to take down and just imagine what would be an amazing thing for you to eat tonight and not just for you to kind of casually eat in front of the TV or eat on the go, but to actually make a feast for yourself or for yourself and your partner or yourself and your family, depending on what your family dynamics look like. Cook up a feast, what would that look like, what would you eat?
[01:45] What's something that you've been wanting to eat or wanting to cook, but maybe you haven't had the time to, or maybe the recipe felt a little daunting, or maybe you just haven't been able to squeeze that kind of enjoyment into your life. Tonight, cook up that feast, prepare the table, light candles, drink a glass of wine, you know, make it really into a celebration. Now you might say, I don't have anything to celebrate. Well, create that space anyway. We don't need to have something to direct toward just to be able to create celebratory moments, right? To enjoy the good things that we do have in life, especially time spent with our loved ones. So, think of a really fun recipe or something you would like to eat to give a try. And then just Google. I love to Google vegan variations of recipes that I used to eat when I was little, whenever I'm feeling nostalgic, or sometimes my husband will tell me, Oh, you know, I really miss… this actually happened earlier this week.
[02:36] He said, I really miss one of those old-fashioned barbecue nights we used to have back in the day. And I said, well, let's make it happen. And we spent two days cooking up a feast, trying out new variations of crazy recipes that we made vegan. And it was so much fun to have that time to cook together. And I'm excited that it's Friday because we really get to enjoy it even more now that it's weekend and we don't have anything planned for tomorrow morning, we can sleep in. Cooking together and then enjoying that food that we prepared with our own hands is just so special. And there's something about planning for and preparing a feast, right? Going to the grocery store, buying what you need, taking the time to cook up that recipe. Pairing it with the right things, creating the ambiance. That's just so, so, so special.
[03:21] So make tonight extra special by cooking something extra special and don't forget about dessert. Okay. I feel like sometimes, you know, dessert is kind of the most important part. Don't forget about dessert. I hope you really take this little self-care moment to heart. I hope you enjoy eating with your family today. If you're alone, then cook up that feast by yourself. You don't need to have company to warrant creating an amazing dinner for yourself. So, celebrate tonight, enjoy, eat that food, enjoy yourself. And I hope you can kind of ride that feel-good vibration all through the weekend. And if you cook plenty, you will have something amazing to eat tomorrow too. So, you know, it's a win-win for everybody. I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead. I hope you truly enjoy this evening. Thank you so much for tuning in with me today.
