A Modern Solution to Change the World: Intimacy

If you want to change the world, to make it a better place...get intimate. Because what today's world needs most is LOVE — not the kind pressured by mass media, but the kind that sets us all free.

This kind of love requires intimacy. But to know its power, to give it courageously, you must remember where it is.

There is a love inside your heart that is so deep, so vast, so profound, it could make the ocean jealous.

This turquoise-blue, sparkling ocean pales in comparison to the love that lies within your heart. That love can move mountains.

That love can change the world. One day, it will change the world.

The problem is this: we don’t believe in our own love.

Our minds trick us into thinking that we don’t deserve it; that we’re not worthy of it; that we are not good enough, smart enough, special enough, beautiful enough to be at the center of this unbelievable love.

So we direct our attention elsewhere, and we eventually forget about our beating hearts and how badly they want us to love and be loved.

We forget.

And the more we listen to our minds telling us what we don’t deserve, the more we yearn for a love we no longer remember — even though it’s there in our hearts, every second of every day.

We start looking all around, running in circles, trying to bring this love back. We study and work harder than ever without really knowing what for.

We manipulate and gossip and do anything to stay ahead and come out on top, thinking the only way to be happy is material wealth and success. We make money so we can shop for things we don’t need.

We look ourselves in the mirror and hate what we see, so we diet to lose weight, just to gain it all back. We watch reality TV, we drink, we smoke, we eat too much or too little and we stuff our faces with processed foods full of additives and hormones. And then we spend more money on medication to keep our bodies from keeling over.

All of these things we do to try to get the love that, deep down, we don’t even think we deserve.

Why are we bending over backward looking for love, destroying our bodies and our planet in the process, when all we have to do to find it is direct our awareness toward our very own hearts?

When all we have to do is breathe deeper, sit in silence and remember?

We must return to love. It’s crucial for the evolution of our consciousness and the urgent healing that’s needed on this earth.

You have to remember that you are worthy of a love deeper and more profound than the ocean. Turn your focus away from the outward pulls, and look inward at your beating heart. Breathe deeply with its rhythm. Listen to what it’s been trying to tell you all along:

You are safe.

You are enough.

You are love.

Come back to your heart. Come back. It will change the world...because it will reconnect you to it.

Through intimately knowing your heart, you'll find that you’re not alone.

Intimacy with your own heart opens the door to intimacy with all of the other hearts walking this earth, searching for the kind of love that can only be known when two hearts meet.

We need more intimacy in the world — you with your heart, and your heart with another’s.

Life passes by so fast. We’re all busy running from place to place, stressing, worrying. It’s easy to miss out on the true connection that makes it all worthwhile.

On the bus, the street, the subway, look closely and you will see people making an effort not to connect with others — avoiding eye contact, choosing an empty seat at the furthest corner possible, staring at smartphones. We try hard to keep ourselves disconnected from the people around us.

Think about it. When was the last time you started a conversation with a stranger? When was the last time you smiled at someone for no reason? When was the last time you made a new friend?

As human beings, we need connection. We need intimacy. As a matter of fact, we need it so badly we cannot live without it. Some studies have shown social connection and community to contribute to long and happy lives much more than diet, exercise, or anything else.

We need each other to live well.

Disconnecting from the world creates the illusion of protection from the outside world, but the truth is that we are stronger together.

There is no separation — we are all one.

We are in this together, and we are here...now.

Don’t waste what you’ve been given. Use your time on this earth to create, to connect, to shine. Make someone’s day a little better. Hug, kiss, touch, embrace, lend a hand, smile, talk, listen, give compassion, forgive.

Tune into your own heart, and use its limitless love to be a part of the whole. Don’t stand on the outside looking in — that isn’t what hearts are for.

Use your heart to change the world. Spread love. Start now.

Tell me in the comments below how you will love yourself and someone else today!

X,

Rachel
