[01:01] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily and happy Thursday! It's Thankful Thursday today, so it's time for us to sit down and practice some gratitude. And I want to start off and just say that the fact that we have Thankful Thursdays as an actual thing every single week, it's making my life better because I have to sit down every week and really think of a new type of gratitude practice or a new way to include gratitude in our lives, right, so we have something brand new to be thankful for every single week. And it's making me think about gratitude in a way different way. It's making gratitude possible in ways I just didn't think or could have imagined before. So, I want to take a moment to just start this Thankful Thursday by thanking you for listening and by thanking you for looking for new ways to incorporate gratitude in your life because the more thankful you are, the more thankful I am. And I think we just spread this thankfulness all around.
[02:08] For today's gratitude practice. I want us to focus on sending gratitude to, or telling this person in person if we can, to one of our teachers or mentors in life. And this is a, I think a pretty big one. For me personally, for a long time I had a really hard time finding one specific teacher, especially when it comes to my yoga practice and my teaching and in a spiritual sense, I always had this idea that you need just one person, right? You need to have a guru or you need to have one main teacher that just teaches you everything. What I've come to find as I grow older is, it's really rare that we come across that one single person and that we stay with that one single teacher for the rest of our lives. For me, I tend to kind of move from teacher to teacher a little bit and then I have a handful of people that I come back to again and again, but all in different areas of my life.
[03:07] So it's not that one size has to fit all, right? As we evolve and grow, chances are you're going to evolve and grow into looking for other teachers and mentors as well. Hopefully you have at least someone in your life or someone you can think of that has been influential to you in your life, that has taught you important things. Someone that you go to for guidance, for advice or in those moments when you just don't know what to do – that person. Today we are going to send your teacher, your mentor, some gratitude and some love. And the cool thing about this is perhaps this teacher of yours that you have in mind is someone that you've never even met in person, right? There are amazing spiritual leaders and teachers out there that you know, chances are we're not maybe ever going to meet in this lifetime, or perhaps they've already left their bodies in this lifetime and they're still teaching us from beyond, right?
[04:00] So it doesn't have to be someone that you have presently in your life that you call up like that kind of teacher. But it could be someone whose works of art inspires you a lot, or someone whose books you come back to again and again, or whose talks or discourses you listen to again and again. So really anyone that first comes to mind, perhaps this teacher is someone who lives down the street from you and someone you actually do have in your day-to-day life. It could be anyone, but I want you to hone in right now, hone in on that one person that first comes to mind or that you first feel in your heart as someone you're actually grateful for, someone who's made an impact in your life and maybe someone who continues to teach you amazing things. As I'm sitting with this myself right now, two people immediately come to mind.
[04:47] One person I have not yet had the chance or opportunity to meet in person, but I hope I'll get the chance next year. First person that comes to mind for me is Ram Dass, one of my all-time favorite people in the world, one of my greatest teachers. I come back to his teachings again and again and again and I continue to feel so inspired by everything he shares and has shared throughout his lifetime. And then the second person that comes to mind is my teacher in holistic therapy and trauma healing. Her name is Shubhaa and she's actually that person who is really close by who I can pick up the phone and just call whenever I need some advice. So I have two people, one feels physically further away than the other, but I'm going to take some time today to actually sit down and send them some gratitude.
[05:35] When it comes to Shubhaa, my teacher, I can actually write her or maybe even pick up the phone. And when it comes to Ram Dass, I can sit down in meditation and just feel in my heart all the ways and how his teachings have enriched my life. And then use that connection to energetically send gratitude from afar. Trust me, both of these avenues totally work. Who are you grateful for today? What's that teacher or mentor that has taught you so much? Take a moment and give them some gratitude and make sure you anchor into that thankful spirit. So, trust me when I say it's going to elevate your day and make you feel really good all day long. Thank you so much for practicing gratitude with me and for sending your mentor some love. Yoga Girl Daily will be back tomorrow.
