[01:01] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily and happy Tuesday, everyone! I want to start off by saying a big Merry Christmas to all of you listening right now. Today it's Tuesday. It's not only Tune-In Tuesday for this show, it's also Christmas Eve, December 24th. I am from Sweden and our big celebration happens on the 24th, on Christmas Eve. That's the big day. So for me, today is just a very, very special day. I would love to share a little bit of a self-inquiry for today's practice. Something to meditate on, journal on, share on, or just think about a little bit, contemplate the true meaning of Christmas. So, however you feel around this holiday, right, maybe it's the most important time of the year. For me, it really feels that way. Maybe you feel a little bit of space or distance to Christmas.
[02:00] Perhaps you feel Christmas is a holiday mostly for children or maybe you love it, maybe you don't. But I would love to take a moment because today is December 24th to take a little bit of space to feel into the center of our hearts so that we can inquire and contemplate on what Christmas actually means for us. And this doesn't mean that we have to absolutely love Christmas and be Christmas crazy the way I am. I think especially if you don't love Christmas or especially if you have any kind of challenging feelings around Christmas, Christmas can also be a time where we feel alone or lonely and can be a hard holiday for many people as well. So taking a moment just to feel into our hearts right now so that we can get to the root of what this holiday, what these days, actually mean to us. So for me, the Christmas spirit, you know, it's not so much about the presents or the tree or decorations or Christmas movies or any of things, but it's the feeling of connecting with myself and it's the feeling of having space, at least for me personally, often free around Christmas time, time to spend around family.
[03:11] It's a time where I can really remember some truly joyful memories from my own childhood. So I try really hard every Christmas to sit in silence on Christmas morning and on Christmas Eve so that I can connect to the actual meaning of Christmas for me, which is that place inside of my heart where I just feel safe. Christmas for me was always a time where I felt like everything came together and regardless of the chaos that was happening around me and in my family when I was growing up, Christmas was the one time of year where everyone came together and actually enjoyed spending time with each other. So how about you? If you have space to close your eyes a little bit so that you can feel into the body. Whenever we bring up a topic on this show or whenever we hear anyone speak or on anything, there is usually that immediate connection of energy moving in your own heart, in your own body as a response to what you're taking in, as a response to what you're listening to.
[04:12] So around this topic on the true meaning of Christmas and Christmas spirit, what does that feel like inside of your body? Do you feel like your heart is open to this holiday? Do you have some challenging memories in your past, perhaps, or some challenging resistance to what this holiday represents for you? Whatever's present now, whatever you feel is actually there in your heart, just give yourself a moment to feel that. So perhaps that's absolute joy. This is your favorite holiday of the year. You love Christmas time, then give yourself a moment right now just to slow everything down. We can get very busy and caught up in the doing and preparing for Christmas. And it's important that we also step back so we can just feel the magic of this holiday, that we can actually just be present in the here and now.
[05:09] And if you have any other kind of emotion that you feel is present in your heart right now. So perhaps there is that resistance or maybe you don't enjoy this holiday so much. Then give yourself space to feel that. You have no obligation to make these days into anything other than what they are. You don't have to pretend, you don't have to try to love something that maybe you don't love, but it's absolutely okay for you to feel exactly what you're feeling in this moment. So noticing what's there and noticing what's present. If it's joy or sadness or confusion or excitement or maybe a mix of everything all at the same time. And let's take a really deep breath down through the center of the heart and all the way to the bottom of the belly. Open the mouth and let go.
[06:09] Regardless of how you feel around the holidays, I think something we can all agree on is that time spent with the people we love is always a special time. So however you feel around the spirit of Christmas or whatever the true meaning of Christmas is for you, I hope you can give yourself space to enjoy just spending time with the people you love and the people who love you in return. No big expectation. Nothing you have to do. Nothing you have to create, but just slowing this day down a little bit so you can truly enjoy spending time with those you love.
