[00:41] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily, everyone! Happy Thursday! It's Thankful Thursday today, which means of course it's time for a gratitude practice. I have a really specific gratitude practice in mind today or a gratitude practice centered around a very specific person in our lives and we are all going to have, I think, a different way of going about this practice depending on what our relationship to this person looks like. So let's, let's see where this practice takes us. Just keep an open mind, open heart. Today we are going to center our gratitude practice around our moms. Yes, our mothers, our mom, that beautiful, beautiful, amazing human being that brought you life, who carried you for nine months, who raised you, who is, you know, been there by your side, maybe for your entire life through all the big moments.

[01:44] Just take a moment to acknowledge and hold some space for your mom in your heart. Now of course, if you have a challenging relationship with your mom, if you have lost your mother, if she's not here on this earth anymore, if you feel like there's an obstacle or something in the way and disconnect perhaps in that relationship, this practice is still for you. Yeah. This practice is still for you if you have lost your mom. First of all, I'm so sorry. If you have this practice of gratitude is almost remembering in a really specific, beautiful way, remembering and bringing back to life those very special qualities that your mother had. If you have a challenging relationship with your mom and she's present here today, then this practice can be even more important because it can help us just bridge a little bit of that gap or at least help us ease and soften into a little bit of acceptance around what this situation is bringing us right now.

[02:44] Of course, if your relationship with your mom is beautiful and easy and magical than this, practice should be easy for you as well. So let's close our eyes. You can place your hands to your heart center and take a moment right here now to, in your mind's eye, see and visualize the image of your mother, your mom, the relationship you have with your mom is the first relationship you ever formed on this earth. Yeah, she brought you life. She carried you in her womb. She birthed you regardless of any challenges that might have been there along the way. It's thanks to her that you are here listening to these words right now. It's thanks to her that you're able to sit here with all the blessings that you have in your life. So especially if there is anything that might feel like it's in the way, bringing our awareness back to that gratitude is a beautiful way to clear out anything that's old or anything that's no longer of use, perhaps something that isn't serving us in that relationship. And as you're visualizing your mother, of course, she's a human being, right? So as we know, you know, may perhaps you're a mother yourself. You know how big of a role that is, what a huge responsibility that is. And we all do the best we can with what we have. So visualizing your mom and all of her beautiful raw humanness, right? She's a human being.

[04:17] And then seeing yourself as a small, small baby, visualizing and witnessing yourself as that little baby just born held in your mother's arms. And if you can in your heart right now, feeling or connecting to what that love, what that first connection was like. That heart, heart connection of you being born into this world and having that first moment of beautiful connection with your mother and if you can, holding that image in your heart and repeating to yourself. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Taking this moment to acknowledge everything your mom has ever done for you, especially if there is something that's difficult there, Just putting all of that aside for right now, focusing on the beautiful things, the sacrifices she's made, the mountains, she's moved for you to be here and really, really, really holding that space in your heart. Let's take another breath, breathing some more space into that gratitude right here, right now.

[05:39] And as you exhale you can go ahead and open your eyes. Now after this podcast is over, I would love to invite you to do one of the following two things. One. If your mother is present in your life, if you have a good relationship and she's close to your right now, pick up the phone, call her and tell her thank you. Super simple, so important. Pick up the phone, call her and tell her thank you. If your mom is not present in your life anymore, if there's any kind of disconnect there. Option number two is pick up your journal at some point today and write a letter to your mom. You don't have to mail it. You don't have to send it out anywhere, but just writing some of your emotions down along with this gratitude. Just write. Just write. Just write, from your heart and see what comes. Thank you so much for practicing some gratitude with me today. Yoga Girl Daily will be back tomorrow.
