[00:04] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily and happy Friday! It's Friday today. Final day of our work. For many of us, Friday is kind of our favorite day of the week and it's Feel-Good Friday over here at Yoga Girl Daily, which means it's time for us to practice a little bit of self-care. I love Feel-Good Fridays because I love sharing different ways and different forms of self-care practices and especially doing this podcast because every single week there's a new one. It's actually making me dig pretty deep to look at the practice as I have and the practices that I used to have that I maybe have forgotten about or the practices that I wish I had incorporated more into my life. Today we are going to do something that I feel unbelievably blessed that I'm able to do it almost every single day. And for me, this is kind of the thing that, that I prioritize in my day and sometimes it's a very short practice, but if I have the time and the space, which normally on a Friday I do, I kind of stretch it out and I make it a whole evening.
[01:11] Today we are going to have ourselves a spa day. What! Okay, so you don't have to be rich to do this. You don't have to go to the spa to do this. You don't have to spend a bunch of money to do this. You don't even need a bathtub to do this. I'm going to explain how we're going to go about it. Of course, if you have a bath tub in your house, you're going to use it, but if you don't, I'm pretty sure you have a shower. What for me constitutes a spa evening or a spa day? Okay, we're not going to spend the entire day in the bathroom obviously, but let's say an evening or perhaps after work. That transition from work into the weekend, giving yourself some sacred time in your bathroom and actually making it really beautiful and really special. So most of us, all of us, I guess we shower every day.
[01:58] For me, it's kind of that in and out thing. I don't like to linger in the shower. I think it's only a little bit of wasted time. I kind of shower because I have to, not because I love it. My husband is very different. He loves to shower and can stand in there forever. For me, I love to take baths and I like to make them really sacred by actually preparing for my time that I'm going to spend in the bath. And if you have a shower, you're going to do the same thing, except you're not going to be lying in the bath. You're going to be standing under the shower head, obviously. So to make that time sacred and not just that in and out kind of, you know, getting cleaned type of shower, you have to create a really beautiful ambiance in your bathroom. Meaning lighting is the most important thing.
[02:41] I like to light as many candles as I can fit into my bathroom, literally as many as I can fit so I don't have to have any electricity or actually kind of that overhead lighting turned on. So light a bunch of candles, make sure they're placed in safe corners of the bathroom, make it really cozy. Decide what kind of treatments you would like to bring with you into the shower or into the bath? For me, I always do the same things. I like to bring a body scrub with me into the bath and I find there's a lot of really affordable body scrubs you can find these days. You can also make your own super easily, either a sugar scrub or a salt scrub, but you can find pretty affordable ones as well. So something that smells good that can kind of put you in the mood that you want for this Friday.
[03:24] I also like to do a face mask that I keep as I'm in the bath. Perhaps for you, you have something else. Maybe you want to wash your hair. Maybe you want to shave your legs. Maybe you want to, I don't know what else we do. You want to do a facial scrub or give yourself a foot massage or choose a couple of things that are for you embodying that feeling of self-care. I have a friend who loves to paint her nails. It's, I don't know. For me, I'm, I'm really bad at it, so I, I think that's why I don't like it. But for her, she's really good at it. She loves the dedicate and set time after having a bath or taking a shower to really make her nails look super beautiful. That's part of her self-care practice. For me, I love the body scrub and the face mask and I'd like to just lie in the bath and breathe.
[04:09] Sometimes I'll bring a glass of wine in the bath with me. Um, maybe a bowl of chips with me. I have a friend who watches Netflix in the tub. Literally this is your day, your evening, you're going to make it something sacred and beautiful, so whatever you want to invite, do it. Okay? Bring your dog, bring your cat, bring your spouse or do it alone. Yeah, whatever you need, make it yours, but really make it special as well. Not just that kind of quick little bath, but give yourself time and space. You can make it sacred and actually wind down. Actually allow yourself enough time to take deep breaths to slow down and enjoy your time spent in the tub or in the shower. I feel really excited about today's Feel-Good Friday self-care tip because it's something that I'm going to head out and do right now. One of my favorite ways to transition into the weekend. I hope you enjoy it too. If you don't have a ton of time, I don't know, maybe you have kids, even 20 or 30 minutes spent, you know, just for you. Hopefully you can make it sacred enough that you really feel like you're able to ground and center into yourself. Of course, if you can give yourself three hours in the bath, do it. Thank you so much for listening today. Yoga Girl Daily will be back on Monday.
