[01:01] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily, happy Thursday and welcome to our Thankful Thursday gratitude practice this week. This week I want us to practice some extra gratitude around the body. This is such an important practice, especially I think, the areas of our lives where we tend to be really hard on ourselves or where we're really judgemental or kind of negative, which is really common that we have those thoughts around the body. Especially there, it's extra important that we balance those thoughts out with some gratitude. So if there's one area of our lives right, I think we all should be practicing even more gratitude than we already are, it is definitely around body and what it's like to actually live in this space. We are blessed with this unbelievably miraculous body. I mean, if we really, really think about it, how amazing is it that you are blessed with the body that you have right now? Thanks to this body, you're experiencing everything beautiful in life, but somehow, we have this disconnect between our thinking mind, our judgmental thoughts, our ego, and actually that feeling of simply residing in and appreciating this body for what it is. So this practice, let's take a moment to really just close the eyes and feel into the body that you're in. Let's take a deep, deep, deep breath in and through the nose exhale it out.
[02:39] And now bringing your awareness to your body in this moment. I want you to focus on one specific area of your body or one specific working or one system within your body that in this moment, whatever just comes to mind automatically that you are absolutely so grateful for. And that can be literally anything around a physical body part. Perhaps you're grateful for your hands, for everything that you're able to create through your hands every day. Maybe you're grateful for your heart, your ability to sit here alive with a beating heart, feeling. Maybe you're grateful for your legs right now for all the places that your legs take you, your ability to move and run and dance. Just choosing one specific area or one system within your body that you are absolutely grateful for in this moment. And then take a moment if you can reach it with your hands right now.
[03:37] Just place your hands around that part of your body. If you're grateful for your belly or digestive system, all the amazing foods you get to eat and digest that sustain and nourish you every day, then place your hands on your belly, placing your hands whereever you feel connected in this moment, and then acknowledging everything this part of your body does for you. So not just what this body part, or this area of your body, what it looks like. We often have this idea of almost every part of our body could be or should be a little bit different or as if we could always be improving physically somehow. So moving away from those ideas and simply acknowledging what this part of your body already does for you every day and then noticing that, feeling, the power behind that function of this body part.
[04:33] Imagine what would your life be like if you were without this part of your body or what was your life be like if suddenly in this part of your body you experienced a lot of pain or if you got ill or sick? Oftentimes we don't fully appreciate the body until all of a sudden we're not feeling well. So in this moment the way you are, can you appreciate the workings of this part of your body and everything it does for you every single day. Just acknowledge that genius behind this body, how everything is so intricately connected and purposeful. Nothing about this body is random or purpose less. Everything has a function. Everything connects, everything belongs. And so do you. And as you're holding your hands to this part of the body can through the palms of your hands, send this body parts some gratitude, some love, some kindness, and you can tell this part of your body silently or out loud. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you legs. Thank you belly. Thank you heart. Thank you arms. Thank you breath. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Let's take a full breath in and out. Blinking your eyes open. Bring a little extra gratitude to your ability to see and experience this moment. Thank you so much for practicing with me today.
