[00:04] Welcome to Yoga Girl Daily, happy Thursday, and welcome to our gratitude practice of this week. In case you didn't know, and for me, this is a little bit of a shock, but today is October 1st. I don't know how it's October already. In a way it feels like it's still March. It's feels like since all the pandemic craziness started, like we've just pressed pause and somehow, it's October already. We are getting close to Christmas. Time is weird. So, I wanted to take a moment just seeing that it's October 1st today, and it's our gratitude day of the week, to see if we can actually anchor into some gratitude for everything or all the lovely things that transpired in September. So, kind of closing the door on September today, deciding right now to sit down and really focus on the beautiful and lovely and gorgeous and mundane, but still extraordinary things that happened to us last month.
[01:12] So, especially if you're having a tough year right now, or if you're going through a pretty challenging time, it's extra important to sit down and evaluate whenever we enter a new chapter, to remember and remind ourselves of the fact that we do have blessings all around. For me, September was particularly challenging, so I really need this practice today. So, let's go ahead and close our eyes. You'll get an opportunity to journal on this later, which is how we're going to really solidify this gratitude practice. But just right now, the way you are, close the eyes. Take a deep breath in through the nose, out through the mouth.
[01:57] So, the month of September, that transition from summer to fall, right now, just feeling into your heart, what are you grateful for that came your way in September? What is something that stands out a little bit more than all the other things, or what is a regular day to day kind of mundane thing that's been happening again and again, that you are really grateful for? If you want, you can do a mental scan of the month. Just kind of remind yourself of what this last month has been like. Have you been busy? Have you had space? Have you been working? Have you been off? Just checking in, what has it been like and what is something or several somethings that you can sit here right now, please a hand to your heart and feel actual, genuine gratitude for. For me, the thing that stands out right away is friendship.
[02:56] September for me was a time where I got to really hang out with some friends. I got to see a friend that came to visit that I haven't seen in a long time. It was also a month where I was FaceTiming and feeling connected to a lot of my friends in a bigger way than normal. So, friendship is I think the thing that stands out the most for me in terms of gratitude in September. So, see where your awareness is going right now. And then I want you to take some time. You can do this at the very end of this podcast if you like, or before bed today, and just journal on your gratitude for September, what are the things that were wonderful? And if you've been able to anchor into some gratitude for things that were hard, that's wonderful, too. You know, something challenging that came your way that you realize already now brought with it something important. Journaling on gratitude is a great way to close out a month and anchoring into gratitude is a wonderful way to move into the next chapter.
